MGNREGA work can be more effective and beneficial for agriculture if done in a continuous patch of land. This was seen in Dhamtari where results were visible on the agricultural productivity and the income of the farmers in the catchment area.
Ramprasad Painkara from Pratappur block has constructed pond through MGNREGA and is using the additional water for agriculture. He adopted SRI method of farming for paddy cultivation and has increased income and productivity.
